Soft Forming Adhesives

We at Beardow Adams have worked hard to produce a comprehensive range of filled and unfilled woodworking adhesives for applications including profile wrapping, v-grooving, precoating, edgebanding, foam bonding, general assembly and soft forming adhesives.

Soft forming is where the profile is curved and quite difficult to bond because of the stress on the edging. It is a very slow process and is often a manual one. Adhesive applied to the edging of door panels is a common application in soft forming.

Beardow Adams’ soft forming adhesives comply with the FIRA Gold Award Standard. The FIRA International Gold Certification is the recognised quality mark for products or installation services providing documented proof that the product or installation are of the highest standard.

BAM™ 1883 is one of Beardow Adams’ versatile hot melts used for soft forming and profile wrapping in the woodworking sector. Exhibiting good heat resistance BAM 1883 is an unfilled adhesive to be used on the likes of PVC, paper foil and wood veneer on a wide range of machine types.

BAM 908A is one of our best adhesives for soft forming in the woodworking industry. The hot melt is natural in colour and has been developed as a soft forming and high-performance edgebanding grade. BAM 908A has impressive heat resistance and is ideal for soft forming as it offers good adhesion to difficult edgings such as solid woods, HPL and PVC.

Soft forming is a tough application in woodworking, so it’s very important the right adhesive for the job is selected. Contact our sales team on 01908 574000 to talk through your options and set up an adhesive trial.
